Marie Stopes International is an International Non-Governmental Organisation working on Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) with headquarters in London, UK. MSI operates in 37 countries providing women and couples health services including family planning (FP), safe abortion and post-abortion care, maternal &a; child health care including safe delivery and obstetrics, diagnosis &a; treatment of sexually transmitted infections and HIV/AIDS prevention. Since 1990, MSIE has been providing high-quality FP, comprehensive abortion care, maternal and child health, and HIV/AIDS services to low income and underserved. MSIE currently operates a network of 24 clinics throughout Ethiopia that provide health services with a focus on family planning (FP), safe abortion (SA) and other sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services. Through its social franchising model branded as BlueStar MSIE partners with more than 554 privately owned clinics in all regions of the country. Member clinics of the BlueStar network receive support from MSIE in the provision SRH services and are trained on their competent delivery of services. In addition, MSIE operates 10 outreach teams that provide long-acting and permanent methods of family planning for clients in rural districts in Oromia, Amhara, SNNPR, Tigray and Afar administrative regions. To contribute to the reduction of maternal mortality and morbidity, MSIE continue to play a proactive role by fostering a value added partnership with the government of Ethiopia, non-governmental organizations, and civic society organizations.
