In today's world, with the climate changing at an alarming level and fossil fuel reserves being depleted, the need to accelerate development of clean energy has become increasingly urgent. The 2011 Fukushima earthquake in Japan renewed concerns over the hazardous health and the environmental impact of nuclear power generation, leaving fewer options for energy producers and raising the profile of photovoltaic power generation as the most viable of the clean energy options. To effect our mission, Sun Materials deploys an innovative technology to produce solar grade polysilicon, the primary raw material used to manufacture solar cells in the photovoltaic industry to generate electricity. Traditionally the polysilicon manufacturing process is associated with high production costs and pollution. The technology deployed by Sun Materials is capable of significantly reducing both the manufacturing costs and the adverse environmental impact in the production process. We believe that Sun Materials' technology has the potential to radically transform the industry landscape and are optimistic that our silicon will have a significant impact on accelerating adoption of photovoltaic power production.
