Mellott
According to Mellott Company, Joe McNeill founded Marion Machine as a machine shop in 1934, supporting the construction of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Marion Machine's initial focus was on repairing the steam shovels and carts that transported blasted rock and dirt for the new roadway. Later, the company transitioned into a repair service center dedicated to the special needs of the aggregate, mining and power industries. The facility handles large rock crushers, including the Nordberg 7-ft. Symons and the 5474 Metso Superior gyratory, according to Mellott Company. Marion Machine's 10-acre facility operates 20 hours a day, 350 days per year. Marion's skilled workers have rebuilt more than 2,000 rock crushers of just about all makes and models for customers around the world, according to Mellott Company.
