Miami Waste Paper

Miami Waste Paper

For more than 60 years, Miami Waste Paper has been a strong leader in Miami's recycling industry and a steadfast supporter of the business community. In 1944, at a time when few people ever heard of recycling, entrepreneur Roy Kopstein began picking up the discarded cardboard boxes that held boots and uniforms of the boys who went off to war. He recycled them for the war effort and thus, Miami Waste Paper was born. Roy was an environmentalist and a businessman who saw the value in waste long before such ideas became mainstream. From one truck traveling door-to-door, to a sprawling state-of-the-art recycling facility and warehouse, Miami Waste Paper grew through Roy's expertise and forward thinking. He continued managing the company right up until his death in 2004 at the age of 89.
