Mind's residential rehabilitation programs provide an environment for people aged from 16 - 65 experiencing the effects of mental illness to develop life skills, set goals, work towards independence and focus on recovery. Mind staff work with clients to set Individual Recovery Plans (IRPs) which involves clients setting goals and identifying the steps needed to achieve them. Clients are encouraged to learn more about themselves and to think about where the choices they make now will lead in the future. Mind's residential rehabilitation programs provide a safe, stable and comfortable living environment for people to learn and grow and deal with the issues associated with living with a mental illness. The programs aim to give clients a sense of belonging both within the program and the wider community. The aim is that clients achieve a degree of self-belief that enables them to make positive life choices, so they are able to move on to manage their own lives more effectively. Strong emphasis is placed on clients taking responsibility for their actions and for the decisions that affect their progress through the program. Staff work with resident so they can develop a way of life which is sustainable. This is achieved through a range of formal and informal structures, processes and activities, some of which are internal and some of which link into the broader community. The programs also assist clients to build links to social, recreational, educational and employment opportunities as appropriate. Mind's residential rehabilitation programs are offered as youth (generally 16 - 24) and adult (generally 25 - 65) programs. Residents on average stay up-to two years however length of stay is based on individual needs of the client. Where possible when clients exit a residential rehabilitation program they will receive support from Mind through its outreach program.
