M.J. Reider Associates

M.J. Reider Associates, Inc. is a woman-owned environmental testing laboratory which has been accredited to the National Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Conference (NELAC) Standards by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PADEP) for drinking and waste water. We also hold various certifications in Connecticut, Maryland, New Jersey, New York and Virginia. Additionally, M.J. Reider is certified by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture to test for bacterial presence in dairy products. Along with the analytical services, expert sample collection and courier services are available for municipalities, industries and private homeowners. The laboratory, founded in 1952 by Dr. Malcolm J. Reider, had its start focusing on bacteria testing of drinking water and supporting Reading's textile industry. As concerns of environmental pollution became more relevant, Dr. Reider began consulting with the local industries and assisted in their efforts to monitor their ever increasing waste. These environmental concerns are the focus of the current owner, Barbara (Reider) Coyle, who continues to be committed to providing a full service environmental testing laboratory. The years have seen the company grow from a few employees into a thriving environmental laboratory with a staff of more than 40. Even with this growth, the company has proudly remained family run, and has never wavered in its commitment to the environment, clients, employees and the community. M.J. Reider has continued to be a state-of-the-art laboratory through acquisition of new analytical instruments and an expansion project. This expansion has nearly doubled the available work space and has added a state-of-the-art organics extraction laboratory. These upgrades, coupled with the staff's hard work and meticulous attention to detail allow M.J. Reider to continue its first-rate service to an ever increasing market.
