Founded by Modeselektor in 2009, it has been a vital international hub for various styles of electronic music on and off the dance floor since the beginning. Still, Monkeytown is not your average ever-expanding label on the hunt for the next big thing. At its heart, a tightly knit crew of friends is operating, providing a snug little home base all our artists can rely on. Monkeytown's catalog showcases what electronic music is capable of. In our world, there are no fixed boundaries, but lots of very specific musical cultures and languages that freely communicate with each other. Artists like Modeselektor, Shed, Mouse on Mars, or Funkstörung have shaped the musical landscape of the past two decades with genre-defining releases in techno, bass-heavy and experimental electronics. Homegrown acts like Fjaak pick up their thread, while the likes of Gajek, Otto von Schirach, and Siriusmo constantly provide weird and daring sounds. You've also heard of Moderat.
