Metropolitan Washington Association of Independent Insurance Agents

Metropolitan Washington Association of Independent Insurance Agents

Founded in 1928 as the Washington Insurance Club, MWAIIA is the oldest insurance association in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. Unlike company-employed agents, MWAIIA independent insurance agents and brokers represent more than one insurance company, offering clients a wider choice of auto, home, business, life and health coverages, as well as retirement and employee-benefit products. MWAIIA is a state affiliate of the Independent Agents and Brokers of America (IIABA or The Big "I," ) a voluntary federation of state associations and local boards, with affiliates in every state and the District of Columbia. Its independent insurance agents and brokers are politically astute and are involved both locally and nationally. They monitor and affect consumer, insurance agent and broker, and small business issues in Washington through an active, professional staff on Capitol Hill.
