National Museum
National Museum in Belgrade, founded in 1844, is the oldest and central museum in Serbia. It treasures more then 400.000 artifacts and artwork connected with the cultural history of Serbia and former Yugoslavia. National Museum&s;s encompasses also museums with different seats: Gallery of Frescoes and Memorial Museum of Vuk Karadzic and Dositej Obradovic in Belgrade, Archaeological Museum of Iron Gorge in Kladovo and Museum of Lepenski Vir in Boljetin village (latter two are on the bank of the Danube river, near Belgrade).
