National Car Rental is the name of a company that speaks of experience and reliability gained since 1947, the year in which 24 independent rental agencies partnered to begin operations in 60 cities in the American Union, with a fleet of 800 vehicles. By the second half of the following decade, in 1957, it already had become a strong corporation established in St. Louis, Missouri. In 1975 the company moved to Minneapolis, where it remained for 23 years until 1998, the year its corporate offices moved to Florida. National Car Rental was the first company that offered, in 1954, a plan in which the customer could rent a car in one location and leave it at another one. In 1966, it was the first company to introduce computers for daily car reservations. In 1987, the Emerald Club was launched for its frequent customers. In 2010 the editors of The SmarterTravel chose National Car Rental as the winner of the Best Rental Car Loyalty Program. All this has lead National Car Rental to conquer the market not only in the United States, but also in Canada, Europe, Latin America, the Caribbean, Asia, Africa and Australia and even to being an official sponsor of important events, such as the PGA Tour (Professional Golf Association) since 1994. And it obviously has an important presence in Mexico under the franchises system, using the commercial name with a strict observance of its norms, standards and procedures established around the world.
