New Economy Organisers Network
NEON is an independent network of over 1000 activists working to replace neoliberalism with an economy and politics based on social and environmental justice. Our members come from trade unions, grassroots groups, NGOs, faith-based campaigns, political parties and all across civil society, predominantly based in the UK but increasingly now across Europe. We run trainings, share skills and ideas and collaborate on campaigns. Why does NEON Europe exist? For the vast majority of people, the economy isn't working. It concentrates resources and power in the hands of a few, causes financial crises and poisons our water, air and land. As a movement we're not winning. We launched NEON Europe to help support the network of activists and organisers working to build an alternative economy and politics that supports social and environmental justice. We aim to build a generation of leaders within Europe who are ready and able to grow the kind movement needed to tackle these problems. We're keen to learn from the brilliant work that's already being done across the continent, whilst bringing some rigour to campaigning and organising work that we support here in the UK. How is the project funded? The project is funded by a mix of contributions from participants and from project funding of host organisation NEON. The current project funding comes from Open Society Foundation - Initiative for Europe. We would love to speak to funders who are interested in supporting longer-term programmes that we aim to build off the back of these events.
