NGF Europe

NGF Europe Limited and NGF Canada Limited are subsidiary companies of the NSG Group of Japan, one of the World's leading manufacturers of glass products for building, automotive and information electronics applications. In 2014, NGF Europe was awarded with The Queen's Award for Enterprise in Innovation in recognition of the design and manufacture of small filament diameter glass cords which are changing the way automotive engineers design vehicles. NGF Europe also holds The Queen's Award for Enterprise: International Trade 2001. Situated in St. Helens, Merseyside, in the north west of England, NGF Europe is at the forefront in the manufacture and marketing of specialised Glass Cord products. Glass Cord is used mainly in the automotive industry for the reinforcement of synchronous drive belts. The best example of a synchronous drive belt is the motor car timing belt that is used in the engine to operate the overhead camshaft system. NGF Europe supplies Glass Cord to timing belt manufacturers worldwide, in all the major car-manufacturing countries. Glass Cord is also used in many non-automotive synchronous drive applications; again in belts for domestic appliances, industrial machinery, office equipment and power tools. Similar Glass Cord products, manufactured by NGF Europe's subsidiary company in Canada, NGF Canada Limited; are used in high performance racing car tyres, industrial conveyors and belting, extruded rubber profiles, friction facings; and other specialist products such as industrial brushes and escalator handrails. NGF Canada Limited is a leading manufacturer of rubber impregnated glass cords. Our products are used in the reinforcement of a variety of polymeric materials for specialty applications such as racing tires, industrial timing belts, escalator handrails, braided and wrapped hose, extruded profiles and friction products such as clutch facings and brake pads. Other uses where treated cord properties can benefit the application include industrial brushes, paper machine dryer felts, specialty conveyors and cable filler reinforcement. NGF Europe and NGF Canada also market Glass Flake products manufactured by their Japanese parent company. Glass Flake is used mainly as a filler/reinforcement to strengthen and prevent warping of plastics; and is also mixed with liquid protective coatings to provide added resistance to corrosion. Other specialised glass products marketed by the NGF group include Metashine® metal coated Glass Flakes, designed to give decorative effects to paints and plastics; and Nanoflecs for use in mascara and as a UV barrier in cosmetics.
