National Institute of Aerospace
The National Institute of Aerospace (NIA) is an independent nonprofit research, graduate education, and outreach institute located in Hampton, Va. NIA was conceived by NASA's Langley Research Center and was formed in 2002 by a consortium of research universities and the AIAA Foundation. Today these groups continue to serve as collaborative partners, provide executive guidance, and offer unique graduate education opportunities. NIA collaborates with NASA and other government agencies and laboratories, universities, and industry to conduct leading-edge research and technology development in space exploration, aeronautics and science. NIA offers a unique, multi-university graduate and continuing education program in engineering and science and delivers signature programs to advance STEM literacy and inspire the next generation of engineers and scientists. In addition, NIA produces award-winning media campaigns and outreach products that build excitement for NASA and the aerospace community.
