Niños de Guatemala

Niños de Guatemala (NDG) was founded in 2006 with the goal to create a better future for the children of Guatemala. NDG is a growing, effective organization that manages educational projects in Guatemala. NDG earns a large part of its income in Guatemala, both through fundraising and Profit-for-Non-Profit businesses. As such, Niños de Guatemala aims to continuously invest in growing Guatemalan leadership and management capacity. In 2009, Niños de Guatemala opened the doors of an elementary school in Ciudad Vieja named Nuestro Futuro. After seeing the program grow and develop into a successful project, NDG opened its second elementary school El Porvenir in San Lorenzo el Cubo in 2012. In 2014 NDG undertook the first steps towards a Básico school - a Guatemalan middle school - that will open in 2015. This básico school will provide the next step in the education for the children that graduate from Nuestro Futuro and El Porvenir. To ensure that the children can continue higher education, the three schools' curricula have been reviewed and approved by the Guatemalan Ministry of Education. All of the graduates receive an official diploma. At the end of 2014, NDG provided education to nearly 400 Guatemalan children from low-income families, one child, one school, one community at a time. Niños de Guatemala operates exclusively in Guatemala. In order to support its operations NDG has offices in the Netherlands, USA and France. NDG has a non-profit status in all of these countries. This annual report explains how Niños de Guatemala has worked over the course of 2014 to both strengthen and expand its operations.
