The Nord Center

The Nord Center is a not-for-profit private organization providing culturally competent and evidence-based behavioral healthcare services that promote recovery, dignity, and well-being for our clients, their families and their communities. Often referred to as a health and human service provider, the Center is governed by a citizen board whose membership includes community residents like you and your neighbors. Ours is a tradition of professional excellence in quality care and responsiveness in providing services needed by our community. The Nord Center is a branch of the Mental Health Network, which is a group of provider organizations who contract with the Lorain County Board of Mental Health, serving the mental health needs of the community. A major portion of our revenue comes from Lorain County mental health levy funds as well as state and federal funding through the Lorain County Board of Mental Health. Other funding sources include the Ohio Rehabilitation Services Commission, the Ohio Department of Health, the Ohio State Attorneys General Office, private insurance foundation grants and donations. The Nord Center's clinical services are certified by the Ohio Department of Mental Health & Addiction Services and CARF, the Commission on the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities. Since 1986, The Nord Center has received continuous Three-Year CARF Accreditation. When a service or program is CARF accredited, it means it has undergone an in-depth review of its services and demonstrated substantial conformance to the CARF standards during an intense, on-site survey. The Three-Year Accreditation represents the highest level of accreditation that can be awarded to an organization.
