NORD/LB is a bank in the north of Germany and is clearly focused on its core business with special attention paid to the region. The company's headquarters in Hanover, Braunschweig and Magdeburg mark the roots of the bank in its supporting states of Lower Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt. As a commercial bank, they offer an extensive range of financial services to their private, corporate and institutional customers as well as public sector customers. Globally, they are represented in all important trading centres such as London, New York, Shanghai and Singapore through their branches and representative offices. NORD/LB does business as the Landesbank for Lower Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt and assumes the responsibilities of a central bank for savings banks in the federal states of Lower Saxony (43 savings banks), Saxony-Anhalt (13 savings banks) and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (10 savings banks). As a central bank for savings banks, they are a partner of the savings banks in Lower Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Beyond these three federal states, they also operate as a service provider for individual savings banks. Furthermore, in their role as a Girozentrale, they offer all the services that are relevant for the savings banks they support. Their self-conception as a bank is shaped by this regional combination, which is also reflected in their business model.
