Northeast Painting Associates, Inc. was established as a partnership in 1981. The principals, Bruce Tolda and Philip Dowling, brought extensive painting experience to the business. They were determined to build a company based upon the two most important issues in construction: high quality workmanship and on-time completion. Maintaining high standards and an ever broadening knowledge base has led to constant growth. The company has consistently increased and improved employee benefits over the years. As a result, Northeast Painting Associates is one of the largest painting contractors in Western Massachusetts. Over the last thirty-four years, Northeast Painting Associates has successfully completed projects throughout New England. High profile projects like the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, the UMass Honors College Residential Complex and the Restoration of the Academy of Music Theater in Northampton, have incorporated many aspects of the company's diverse talents, including the application of High Performance Coatings, Intumescent Coating Application, Decorative Painting Techniques, Variegated Coatings, and Commercial Wallcoverings. Fast track summer renovations at Amherst College, Williams College, Smith College, Hampshire College, and the University of Massachusetts Amherst, have highlighted the company's ability to meet demanding construction schedules. Northampton Paint Center, a retail/wholesale paint store opened by the partners in 1986, allows for direct control of paint and sundry supplies as well as computer color matching and spray equipment. The coatings field is dynamic, requiring constant updating of equipment and training. Northeast Painting Associates field tests new products for PPG Industries and other manufacturers. The company also provides site specific paint analysis, as well as specifications for architects and engineers. All employees take part in regular training for worker safety and material application techniques.
