Founded in 1983 NPE ran as a regional truckload carrier providing truckload services primarily along the I-5 corridor. As a company dedicated to exceptional service and value we have since evolved into a national full service transportation provider. December of 1986 NPE joined the Puget Sound Freight Lines Transportation Family, which today also includes PSTL and Pacific Terminals. With its beginnings in 1919, Puget Sound Freight Lines has a rich heritage. Puget Sound Freight Lines' small freight boats formed one of the original "mosquito fleets", bringing shipments of groceries, hardware, lumber, and other supplies' to communities along the Puget Sound. As roads were developed in the region, Puget Sound Freight Lines supplemented Marine service with deliveries from the waterfront to the customer's place of business. Later as the highway system developed, Puget Sound Truck Lines was established to provide truckload transportation service in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, British Columbia, and other areas of the Northwest. The Pacific Northwest and the transportation industry have experienced remarkable changes since those days of the "mosquito fleets".
