Northwest Building

Northwest Building LLC (NWB) is one of the Puget Sound Region's largest commercial-real estate development and management firms. NWB currently owns and manages 4.3 million feet of industrial warehouse space spread over 40 buildings. Industrial parks include Lakewood Industrial Park, Port Commerce Center in Tacoma , Fife Commerce Center and Valley Freeway Corporate Park in Kent. NWB is also the developer, owner and manager of downtown Seattle landmark office building, The Norton Building. Company founder Norton Clapp introduced Northwest Building in 1979. At that time, NWB consisted of an amalgamation of Norton' various commercial real estate assets and companies . Currently, NWB's primary focus is on industrial properties. The Company has developed the majority of its current holdings with approximately 1.5 million square feet of industrial warehouses being built within the last 10 years. In addition NWB is an active investor in industrial land with over 70 acres available for future development. NWB currently owns only one office building, the iconic Norton Building. Built in 1959 and named for Norton's grandfather, Matthew G. Norton, the Norton Building was the first major downtown office building built since before the Depression. The 21-story, $12 million structure was also Seattle's first thoroughly modern skyscraper, complete with air-conditioning, three floors of underground parking, sweeping views and a top-floor dining club. Over the years NWB has owned several downtown Seattle office buildings including The Exchange Building, The Seaboard Building, The First Interstate Building and also managed the University of Washington Metropolitan Tract. Norton Clapp passed away in 1995.
