1985: Obegi Group sold its banking institution, Crédit Libanais. At the same time, Henkel KGaA withdrew from the Lebanese joint venture as a result of the civil war. 1986: Launched Tibah Chemicals - which was later renamed Obegi Chemicals Egypt - in partnership with the Samir Fahmy Group to serve the Egyptian chemical industry. 1994: Banque Bemo SAL Lebanon was established, marking the return of the Obegi Group to the vibrant Lebanese banking sector. 1996: A regional office of Obegi Chemicals was established in Dubai to serve the Gulf countries and act as a logistics hub for the Arabian Peninsula. 1996: Set up Henkel Lebanon SAL, a 50/50 joint venture between Obegi Consumer Products Holding and Henkel KGaA that marked the return of Henkel to the Lebanese market. At first, the venture covered Lebanon and later expanded into the Syrian market. 1997: Unifert re-established itself as a main provider to the agricultural sector in Iraq via its affiliated company, ARD. 1999: In another joint venture with the German group, Henkel KGaA, a new detergent plant under the name of Henkel Syria SAS was constructed in Aleppo, Syria to manufacture and distribute Henkel's brand. 2002: Started production of top quality emulsion polymers in the Vinavil Egypt, Suez plant. 2004: After a thirteen-year absence, the Baghdad office was reopened to serve customers in the Iraqi chemical industry. 2004: Founded - in partnership with Banque Saudi Fransi - the first privately owned bank in Syria, Banque Bemo Saudi Fransi (BBSF) after the reopening of the Syrian banking sector to the private sector. 2005: The Obegi Group celebrated its centenary. 2006: Unifert redirected its focus on its core agri-business activities following a change in the shareholding structure. 2006: Logistica Sal was established as a new member of Obegi Consumer Products (OCP) group of companies to consolidate all the logistics services provided both to OCP and external customers such as McDonald's. 2007: Unifert entered new markets in the MENA region from this point forward by launching new joint ventures in Saudi Arabia, Iran and Sudan with local partners. 2008: Celebrated the 40th anniversary of the Unifert group of companies. 2009: Marked the 50th anniversary of the Obegi Consumer Products group of companies under the theme "50 years of successful bonding". 2010: Obegi Chemicals partnered with the Samir Fahmy Group to launch the Alexandria Chemicals Terminal - ALXCT, the first bulk terminal for chemicals on the Mediterranean coast of Egypt and the logistical base for its distribution and manufacturing activities in the MENA region.
