The Old Vic

Based in New York and London, The American Associates of The Old Vic (AAOV) is a dynamic group of theatre lovers who place a strong emphasis on fostering emerging talent and promoting vibrant cross-cultural exchange. In addition to supporting The Old Vic's productions, both at home and internationally, the group has played a vital role in making transatlantic talent development initiatives happen. These allow for the best in emerging actors, writers, directors and producers in New York to build relationships and develop their craft through workshops, master classes and exchanges with counterparts in London. Unique training and networking experiences have also been made available in New York as result of AAOV sponsorship. Through The American Associates, The Old Vic strives to present a selection of its renowned productions to New York audiences. Over the past five years this has ranged from the Tony Award-winning Broadway run of Alan Ayckbourn's The Norman Conquests to the three-year transatlantic Bridge Project directed by Sam Mendes, produced by The Old Vic in partnership with Brooklyn Academy of Music and Neal Street. As part of The Bridge Project, The Old Vic was able to tour five classical productions to 20 cities, with extensive runs of the plays, including Richard III starring Kevin Spacey, programmed in both New York and London. The American Associates participate in regular activities in New York, in support of The Old Vic, as well as exclusive trips to London. If you would like to learn more about these activities or become a supporter, please view our brochure from the downloads widget on this page.
