Councilman Chris J. Coschignano was elected by the residents of the Town of Oyster Bay in 2001 to serve on the Town Board. The Oyster Bay Town Board represents the governing body and lawmaking authority for the 300,000 residents of the Town. He was also re-elected in 2005, 2009, and most recently in 2013. Through this position as an elected official, Mr. Coschignano currently serves as Chairman of the Syosset Hamlet Revitalization Committee. Councilman Coschignano was also appointed in 1995 by the Town of Oyster Bay Town Board to serve as Counsel to the Zoning Board of Appeals to oversee the operations and exclusively handle all municipal litigation involving the Zoning Board of Appeals. He served in this position until his election in 2001. Councilman Coschignano received his undergraduate Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management from St. John's University in 1985 and his Juris Doctorate Degree from Touro College School of Law in 1990. Mr. Coschignano is also a member of the American Bar Association, Nassau Lawyers' Association and Columbian Lawyers' Association. Councilman Coschignano, in his private business career, is a Partner in the law firm of Sahn, Ward, Coschignano & Baker, PLLC, at The Omni Building in Uniondale. He has been engaged in the general practice of law since 1990, and his emphasis has been in the areas of Real Estate, Land Use and Zoning; Municipal Law and Municipal Defense Litigation; Business, Corporate and Commercial Law; Trusts and Estates; and Matrimonial and Family Law. Councilman Coschignano has represented such distinguished clientele as the United States of America, The Justice Department of the United States of America, The Metropolitan Transportation Authority, The Metropolitan Suburban Bus Authority, The Town of Oyster Bay, and other municipal, public and private organizations. Mr. Coschignano has also been appointed by the Supreme Court of the State of New York to serve as a Court-appointed Receiver and Referee on a variety of matters. Councilman Coschignano also presently serves as an Executive Committeeperson on the the Nassau County Republican Committee, representing the North Syosset-Woodbury area, since having been elected to this position in 2003. Councilman Coschignano is a life-long resident of the Town of Oyster Bay and lives with his wife, Elisabetta, and children Isabella, Angelo and Luca, in Muttontown. He is a member of the Knights of Columbus, Sons of Italy, Syosset Chamber of Commerce, Syosset Rotary, Italian Americans in Government, Knights of Pythias, Syosset Fire Department (Honorary Member) Oyster Bay Chamber of Commerce, Residents for a More Beautiful Syosset, North Syosset Civic Association and attends religious services at St. Edward The Confessor Roman Catholic Church. The Councilman is also Co-Chairman of the Annual St. Edward's Festival.
