Physician Associates of Virginia, P.C. was incorporated on January 1, 1997 through the merger of long established Internal Medicine practices in the Roanoke Valley. Internal Medicine Associates of Roanoke was founded in 1952 by Robert Hutcheson, M.D., who was later joined by Gerald Roller, M.D. The group was enlarged to include several more physicians including Charles Loftin, M.D., Michael Basile, M.D. and Diane Wiggins, M.D., all of whom have since retired. Robert Mountcastle, M.D., part of the original group, is still a practicing partner of Physician Associates of Virginia, P.C. Roanoke Valley Medical Clinic was formed in 1955 by William Poe, M.D. The group eventually included Michael Moore, M.D., Homer Sieber, M.D. and James Wheless, M.D.; R. Thomas Edwards, M.D. joined Roanoke Valley Medical Clinic in 1973 and retired as a partner of Physician Associates of Virginia, P.C. in December, 2013. A Family Practice division, located in Salem, was added to Physician Associates of Virginia, P.C. in 1998 with the addition of Bonnie Culkin, M.D., a partner in Physician Associates of Virginia, P.C. Physician Associates of Virginia, P.C. maintains a presence in the Roanoke Valley as an independent group of physicians with extensive experience. Physician Associates of Virginia, P.C. is dedicated to providing comprehensive care and attention to patients - in the office, the hospital ( Lewis Gale Medical Center), at home and in selected nursing homes.
