Peter Lang
His publishing expertise, the result of working with his father, the Bernese publisher and bookseller Herbert Lang, along with his own drive and initiative, led to the rapid growth of the press. International networks and close working relationships with authors stood at the center of the business. Over the years, more offices opened in university centers around the world. Today the Peter Lang Publishing Group is made up of five independent offices in Bern, Berlin, Frankfurt am Main, Oxford and New York as well as many associate editors and representatives in further locations. After Peter Lang's passing in 2001, the Publishing Group was bequeathed to the Peter Lang Children's Trust, a grant-making charity in the UK. In 2015, a management buy-out by members of Peter Lang's board of directors and executive committee led to a change in ownership. Their goal is to expand the Publishing Group into a leading academic publisher, offering an extensive range of print books, eBooks and Open Access publications. The headquarters of the group in Switzerland act as a central hub for marketing, distribution and sales for the entire Publishing Group.
