The Phoenicia Malta

The Phoenicia Hotel is committed to making meaningful contributions towards reducing its environmental impact by pursuing sustainable practices in all of its operations. During the past 18 months, the hotel has focused on environmental management and undertaken a number of project investments aimed at reducing the carbon footprint of the hotel. A rooms energy management sytem has been installed together with power correction for all heavy equipment in the hotel. An awareness programme was launched for all the members of staff in order to improve on energy saving. Best practices including computers, lights, air conditioning and other appliances being switched off when not in use were introduced and promoted. Waste separation and waste reduction has also been a success especially with the initiatives taken by the room attendants. Hotel guests are also given the option to contribute to our initiatives with optional towel and linen change services. Executive chef Bernd Maier is also committed to sourcing more local produce and to offer clients a choice of items on the breakfast buffet using less packaging. The hotel Eco champion, Chief engineer, Anthony Saliba, represented the hotel at the awards conference where he was presented with the Eco Certificate by Dr. de Marco.
