Plaid Cymru

Plaid Cymru is committed to ensuring that health services are publicly funded and free to all. We will end the current postcode lottery for accessing healthcare facilities. Many people across Wales, particularly in rural areas, have difficulty in accessing NHS services as a result of failing New Labour policies. These proposals would help them get fast and equal access to the care they need. Hospital closure proposals put forward by Local Health Boards as a result of the Labour Assembly Government's ,Designed for Life' document means that many people will have to travel further to access acute and elective NHS services. Plaid realise that certain reconfiguration of health services is inevitable as part of a programme for improving services, however we oppose Labour's current proposals as they contain little detail of how alternative services will be provided in the community.
