Poughkeepsie Journal

Poughkeepsie Journal

The Poughkeepsie Journal annually provides thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours of volunteer time to assist needy families and nonprofit organizations through three main channels: Gannett Foundation: A philanthropic foundation sponsored by Gannett, the Gannett Foundation supports non-profit activities in Poughkeepsie and other communities in which Gannett does business. In 2012, the Gannett Foundation made grants and matching employee donations to non-profits for a total of $6.7 million. Make A Difference Day: Millions of people and many businesses come together on the fourth Saturday in October to participate in Make A Difference Day. It is the largest national day of helping others and is sponsored by Gannett's USA WEEKEND and its carrier newspapers, including the Poughkeepsie Journal. Each year, Journal employees and their family members volunteer on a common initiative to help our neighbors in need. Holiday Helping Hand: A partnership between United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region and the Poughkeepsie Journal established in 1983 to help thousands of people in our community through donations. Affecting the lives of children in need of clothes, residents in need of heat and others in need of services, 100% of all donations go directly to organizations and individuals in need.
