Pittsburgh Public Theater also strives to serve, challenge, stimulate and entertain while operating in a fiscally responsible manner. The Public shares its resources with the community through education and outreach initiatives intended for a wide range of people with the goal of expanding and diversifying the audience while enriching the community. Pittsburgh Public Theater is a member of the League of Resident Theatres (LORT), a national association of non-profit professional theaters, and a constituent of Theatre Communications Group (TCG), a national service organization for the nonprofit professional theater. The theater operates under an agreement between the League of Resident Theatres and Actors' Equity Association, the Union of Professional Actors and Stage Managers in the United States. Pittsburgh Public Theater also operates under agreements with the Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers (SSDC), and Local No. 3 and U.S.A. 829 of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE), the unions which represent directors, choreographers, designers and theater technicians in the United States.
