Prior's Court School

Prior's Court School

Prior's Court School is an independent special school for children and young people with autism aged from 5 to 19 years. The school supports students on the autism spectrum who have moderate to severe learning difficulties and complex needs. Students are non-verbal, pre-verbal or have limited language and are working from lower P scales through to National Curriculum levels 1 and 2. Some have additional diagnoses and exhibit challenging behaviours. The school offers day, weekly and termly placements over 38, 44 or 52 weeks of the year. By combining autism knowledge and best practice with a person-centred approach, the school aims to achieve the highest level of progress for each individual enabling them to self-manage behaviour, communicate, manage transitions, develop independent living and social skills, choice-making and advocacy and progress to building vocational skills and undertaking work placement activities. Skills once taught and practiced onsite can then be generalised and undertaken successfully offsite. Frequent access to the nearby villages, towns and community facilities enable students to work towards inclusion as far as possible.
