PublicSource

PublicSource is a nonpartisan, nonprofit, digital-first media organization dedicated to serving Pittsburgh and the region. We provide public-service reporting and analysis, convene communities of shared interests and connect civically engaged citizens with local decision makers. PublicSource began its operations in July 2011 as a program under Pittsburgh Filmmakers. In November 2015, we obtained our independent 501(c)3 status. Now, with a team of nine people that includes dedicated journalists and business leaders plus more than 30 freelancers, we have been advancing our mission of public-service journalism, accountability to those in power and transparency in public policy through our reporting, data and events. As a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, PublicSource is supported by individual contributions (click here to support our mission), major gifts, events and foundation grants.
