Qualifications Wales
Qualifications Wales has been established to strengthen and simplify the regulation of awarding bodies and qualifications in Wales. In everything we do, we strive to meet our principal aims of ensuring that qualifications and the qualification system meet the needs of learners in Wales and of promoting public confidence. We will use sanctions and enforcement where necessary to protect learners’ interests, but will usually seek other mechanisms to resolve issues before resorting to these actions. Our policy 'Taking action when things go wrong' is available below. It explains: actions we can take to prevent the recurrence of a problem and to put matters right; factors we will take into account when deciding what action to take. It may be the case that an awarding body or other party may wish to appeal a regulatory decision made by Qualifications Wales, including - but not restricted to - the recognition of an awarding body, the approval of a qualification, recovering costs for the imposition of sanctions, or fee capping. Anybody affected by such decisions may have the opportunity to have that decision reviewed. Our 'Regulatory Appeals' policy is available below. it explains how anybody who has been affected by a regulatory decision made by Qualifications Wales can appeal that decision.
