Raah Foundation

Raah Foundation is an NGO registered with the Charity Commissioner of India. We are a young organisation with big dreams; we are small in size but high on passion. Started by professionals from varied spheres and different set of experiences who bring to the table a project based approach; Raah Foundation has been since last four years working in different geographies until we found our calling in the Tribal Belt of Maharashtra. One of the most scenic areas, yet so neglected; very hard working people but complete lack of opportunities; there is a lot that needs t be done. The Tribal belt has due to years of neglect has also become a hot bed of social problems. From malnourished kids to anaemic mothers; from water scarcity to absence of sanitation facilities; from lack of any type of opportunities to a wide spread drinking menace; there is everything here. Currently we are focussing all our activities on Jawhar & Mokhada in Palghar District of Maharashtra. It is barely 130 kms from Mumbai yet looks so far and appears so distant. These Tribals are born with the Warli art form and their homes and other places in their communities are painted in warli form depicting scenes from their lives. Raah Foundation was started in Jan 2011 by a group of professionals who have varied experiences in different fields. Raah Foundation was a culmination of their desire to use their experiences and make a difference to the society. The common theme between the three founders was management and entrepreneurship which hence became the thrust areas of all interventions and activities done by Raah Foundation. Providing management orientation and facilitating micro entrepreneurs is the key and one of the most important programs conducted by Raah Foundation. Our Mini 5 day MBA which covers all the nuances of Business start-up and running a sustainable enterprise is one of our trademark events. So far we have trained more than 2500 women and youths in this program, Most of our trainees have started various businesses and have worked hard to change their lives sustainably. From making and selling bags to candles to setting up a shop for stitching garments in a small village, our people have shown courage to take things into their own hands and make that change. Raah Foundation has been since last few years working closely with these tribal families to make products with warli motifs and sell in Mumbai market. We have created several household products such as trays in different shapes and sizes, coasters, hotplates, key holders, napkin holders etc. Personal products such as jewellery boxes, bedside utility box, bangle box etc.; Office products such as Table organiser, diary etc. These products have very high demand in Mumbai Market and we have been able to create sustainable businesses for several of these artisans.
