The Raiders made the playoffs in 1993, but failed to do so in 1994. When the season was over, Davis fired Shell and hired Mike White to coach the team for the 1995 season. In 1995, the Raiders returned to the Bay Area after the city finally agreed to a massive overhaul of the Oakland-Alameda Coliseum. This marked the end of a thirteen year tenure in Los Angeles.
