We serve fresh, organic, and locally sourced food with ingredients produced by local farmers, allowing us to thereby not only offer nutritious, authentic culinary options, but also uplift and support the surrounding community. Our home garden concept is also instrumental in helping us encourage younger generations towards domestic cultivation, a practice we strongly and vehemently believe in. We also maintain a stringent no plastic policy including polythene instead making use of sustainable packaging, and are committed to ensuring water conservation. Furthermore, Ravana Garden will do away with conventional business cards, instead switching to a more environmentally-friendly option in the form of Business eCards. With around 90% of business cards being thrown out on average and roughly 6 million trees felled globally for their production, we hope to reel in this wastage by fostering a global movement on the same. ebills are also a feature in the hotel in line with this, and we only produce printed bills if guests specifically request for them. For such instances, we only use recycled paper. Designed by prolific Sri Lankan architect Sunela Jayawardena who specialises in environmental design and makes use of indigenous building systems and sustainable materials, the hotel effortlessly blends in with the landscape. The eco-friendly concept has ensured that not a single tree was destroyed in the construction process, instead working our design around the environment for conservation. The unique architectural design in turn helps maximise natural ventilation and lighting, reducing energy usage whilst outdoor lighting is set up in such a way that it reduces light pollution so nocturnal species may not be hindered. This also extends to turtles who come to the shore, and as such we have not set up any lights towards the beach. Additionally, our energy metering system will allow guests to monitor their usage, which will also be included in each individual billing.
