This is a non-governmental organization with society ordinance registration number SO. 9459, the registration was done nationally with Headquarter in Dar Es Salaam and field offices in Ngara, Kibondo Kasulu,Handeni(Chogo), Tabora,Urambo and Kigoma districts in Western Tanzania. REDESO strives to bring both relief and development to the disadvantaged communities in Tanzania with an emphasis on effectiveness and efficiency in producing positive outputs. REDESO employs extremely experienced competent and highly devoted staff to assist in achieving its mission i.e. 'to bring peace of mind and sustainable development to the disadvantaged in a community'. The organization was formed in 1998 to manage relief and development programs in Tanzania and outside the country if and when it is necessary. The 1994-96 genocides in Burundi and Rwanda led to an influx of thousands of refugees into Tanzania. As one of the poorest countries in Sub Saharan Africa, Tanzania experienced various problems ranging from ecological to socio-economical. REDESO was formed to intervene with the aim of bringing relief to both refugees and the host communities. The organization has thus focused on alleviating negative impact of refugees on the environment and the local communities. However, REDESO also advocates maintaining all positive impacts from refugees, for the good of national development. REDESO was established by a group of high-level professionals in the area of environmental management, agriculture and social sciences, with profound experience in both government and private sector services. The organization concerns with relief and development to local and international displaced communities and other vulnerable local communities. Since its inception, REDESO has been one of the leading projects implementing partner to the UNHCR in refugees' settings in Tanzania. REDESO has also initiated and managed project assignments for the government of Tanzania, international organizations, donor agencies and local NGOs. However, REDESO constitution provides for working even beyond Tanzania. Map of Africa
