Ritsumeikan University

Ritsumeikan was established 130 years ago as a private academy in Kyoto. Since then, it has expanded to comprise of two universities, such as Ritsumeikan University and Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University, three junior, and three senior high schools, collectively known as the Ritsumeikan Academy, which is now an internationally recognized institution with about 34,000 students. Ritsumeikan University's Biwako-Kusatsu campus in Shiga emphasizes multidisciplinary studies centered on its Integrated Institute of Arts and Science, and promotes research in close cooperation with businesses, governmental agencies and communities.
