Romolo Chocolates

In 1926 Romolo Stefanelli opened his first confectionery business in Erie, Pa. He had moved there from New York after emigrating from Italy. Immediately his reputation began to grow, and so did his customer base. Romolo's grandson, Tony Stefanelli, opened Romolo Chocolates in 1994 where today, joined by his sons and fourth-generation chocolatiers Anthony and Roman, the original artisanal craft of Romolo continues to thrive. In 2004, Tony was named one of only 26 Master Confectioners in the United States. Romolo Chocolates is a must-stop for travelers and Erie residents. The 27,000 square foot destination houses a chocolate shop, gift shop, and a cafe. In 2017 it also opened Sugar Room, a themed-event room inspired by the whimsical worlds of Candyland, Willie Wonka, and Alice in Wonderland.
