Australian Rugby Union has today announced Castrol as the naming rights partner to domestic Tests for the next four years in a deal described by ARU Managing Director and CEO, John O'Neill AO, as a "teaming of two organisations steeped in tradition and driven by high performance". The multi-million dollar agreement will see the Qantas Wallabies opening match of the season against Samoa in Sydney on 17 July positioned as The Castrol Edge Rugby Test while the Castrol Edge Tri Nations features showdowns with South Africa in Sydney on 23 July and the All Blacks in Brisbane on 27 August. As official Performance Partner of the ARU, Castrol has also confirmed its intent to bring insights and entertainment to Rugby fans through technology and innovation, with details on delivery to be announced as the season progresses. "We are absolutely delighted that Castrol, already a partner of ours for the past two years, has decided to significantly increase its commitment to the game from 2011 to 2014," said Mr O'Neill. "For many years there was an association at this level between ARU and Bundaberg Rum. From this season that partnership around domestic Tests takes on a new look, with the Qantas Wallabies to play on home soil in matches under the Castrol Edge banner. "It is an exciting new relationship with obvious synergy. Both ARU and Castrol have been established in their respective international marketplaces for more than a century. "Those international reputations have been built around success, a focus on high performance, and a desire to be at the forefront of innovation. "The Castrol Edge Rugby Test against Samoa and the Castrol Edge Tri Nations to follow give us a chance to further embed those ideals in what is no ordinary year for the Qantas Wallabies. "We have an opportunity to be the best team in the world by the end of 2011. "We have announced a new slogan - One Team 2011 - designed to unite the nation behind the Qantas Wallabies before they head to New Zealand for the ultimate campaign in September-October. "At ARU we are delighted Castrol is on board not only for the One Team journey, but for a number of seasons beyond this year.
