Shannon says he would've started his working career at the company if he'd been allowed, but after his father's advice to set out and "learn how to work", he ended up at another agricultural contractor before returning to RBT in 1999. In his role as general manager, Shannon works around governance and leadership, whilst overseeing all divisions of the company. Shannon also works extensively in "developing IT systems to add value to us and our clients." "I've always liked machinery and trucks. No day is ever the same. Shannon says the job can be challenging at times but also rewarding. "It's a good way to get out of bed in the morning and make a difference." Something Shannon has enjoyed over the years is seeing the business diversify from straight rural trucking to contracting, demolition, and growing the fleet utilisation to include milk cartage. Outside of work Shannon likes to do a bit of fishing and spending time with his family; he has two daughters with his wife Meredith. Family is also at the forefront of RBT values.
