St. Robert
The Office of Information Technology's mission is to provide for the core communications, both telecommunications and data, for the City of St. Robert's governmental daily business needs. The IT Department accomplishes this mission through the development, implementation, and support of existing and emerging technologies; in order to facilitate the integrated exchange of data with internal and external city employees; to identify new technologies and trends that will improve employee productivity and reduce operating costs; to advise city management of the best information technologies practices; and to deliver timely and accurate services to St. Robert City employees in a professional and courteous manner. Change is inevitable: Coax to Fiber ... by an IBM system 36. Today, our Department Staff consists of an Information Technology Manager. Our growth has brought us from the one server and 5 workstations; to the current management and use of 6 servers, with direct support to over 70 end users including more than 250 components (computers, peripherals, phones, etc. encompassing a cost responsibility of approximately $ 250,000.00). Today, we utilize and support a wide variety of server operating systems and end user applications, which at a minimum include: Apache, Java, ODBC + SQL, Windows 2K and 2003 Servers, Windows 2K, Windows XP, Lotus Suite and Microsoft Office. This is not accounting for many unique software applications for specific departmental needs. Other areas the IT Department is involved with are the Distributed Data Access via the Web Applications and Electronic Document Management Systems. Additionally, we have established a global interface with access to the World Wide Web through our own Internet. The St. Robert website and our Internet is a solely created and maintained via the IT Department. Inclusive is a FTP site that is for public use, though most commonly used by the City Employees and our external business partners.
