Sala Group introduced the Pro-Am with the objective to support local charities and on this occasion, raise much needed funds for the San Pedro based organisation, Aspandem. This important charity aims to enhance the lives of those living with disabilities and assist them with their daily struggles. Efforts were greatly supported by local legend Miguel Angel Jimenez who personally donated a Ryder Cup Flag signed by the entire European Team. Miguel said, "I am delighted to see that Sala Group and my professional colleagues (sic) are interested in the well-being of the most unfortunate ones in our society, in this case ASPANDEM and all those who work for this charity." A shotgun start at 12 noon began the day's activities, which included a 'Nearest to the Pin' competition on the second hole. Steve Godfrey won green fees at Valderrama Golf Club in Sotogrande. Members of Aspandem had the opportunity to mingle with the sports professionals at the beautiful boutique beach club, Sala Beach, for the all important prize giving, auction and raffle. Drinks flowed and delicious Thai tapas were served whilst the winners were announced, with Gabriel Canizares' team becoming the first Sala Group Pro-Am champions. Raffle and auction prizes donated by La Sala and their suppliers contributed to the grand total of 5222.80€. Paul Bramley, the winner of the hotly contested Ryder Cup flag auction, joined Sala Group Operations Director, Luis Quiroga Díaz and Bradley Smith at La Sala in Puerto Banus to present the cheque to Aspandem President, Maria Jose Morales and Town Hall Counsellor, Manolo Cardena. "We are exceptionally grateful for everything Sala Group have done for us," explained Maria Jose. "This money will be hugely beneficial to everyone involved and we cannot thank you enough."
