Samiotes Consultants, Inc., a visionary company founded in 1987 by Despina and Charles Samiotes, has evolved from a small family business specializing in civil engineering, to a multi-disciplined organization servicing a variety of market sectors in the construction and design industries. In 1994, in response to growing demands and space constraints, the company moved from its start-up office in Wayland, to a renovated mill space in Saxonville, a village of Framingham, Massachusetts. After 15 years in the mills, Samiotes Consultants, Inc. secured its own 4,000 square foot office building in October 2008. These offices remain in Saxonville, a vibrant, historical community, centrally located mid-state, affording the firm easy access to the Mass Pike, downtown Boston and other points throughout New England. The Samiotes' vision for the company was to provide creative, cost-effective civil engineering to the designer and developer. Pooling their individual strengths, the Samiotes team succeeded in their mission by establishing a solid foundation for the company to grow with resolve and purpose. In 2001, Charles Samiotes stepped down from the day-to-day operations and marketing of the firm, to pave the way for new leadership. Despina Samiotes continued her responsibilities as owner and CFO, but embarked on a new role as the head of the company, implementing the company's philosophy, mission and strategic business directives for the future. Under Despina's leadership, the company achieved another milestone in 2002: adding a full-service land surveying department, thereby adding comprehensive site development services to the firm's clients. Solidifying her position as the leader and visionary for the company, Despina Samiotes was appointed Chief Executive Officer in 2009. Another major leadership change implemented in 2001 was the appointment of Stephen Garvin as President, a long-time and respected employee, to take over the responsibilities of the day-to-day operations as chief engineer, and marketing and client interfacing for the company. In his capacity as President, Stephen Garvin, a LEED Accredited Professional, was instrumental in spearheading the company's initiative to implement sustainable design to its civil engineering and site designs, ensuring that the company stays in the forefront of the industry. With Charles Samiotes remaining a key figure as a goodwill ambassador and mentor for the company, Samiotes Consultants, Inc. is well positioned to address the needs of an ever-changing industry.
