Sask Interactive

I would like to start off by congratulating the volunteer Board members that contribute of themselves to help SIMA in obtaining our goals and moving the organization forward. As a provincial organization, we can be proud of the fact that SIMA (formerly known as SaskInteractive) was the first nonprofit organization in Canada in this space. The growth of this industry on a national scale, since those early days back in 1995, has surpassed other more traditional industries. The unfortunate reality is that Saskatchewan, albeit first in many respects, is now behind every other province in this industry. SIMA is an organization based on the support of all its members who are companies and individuals involved in the interactive industry. The industry has moved well past the days of "interactive websites" into the mobile markets, social media and media marketing. Many of the careers listed today, did not exist only a few years before. How does SIMA support its members? This is a valid question. The sharing of resources and information in this space through the creation of seminar events, the website, Facebook page, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc. SIMA is non-profit and unbiased in their goals and direction. It is our plan to work with government agencies to create a strategy that will see Saskatchewan IP, digital producers being solicited on a national and international stage. Part of the plan is to work with export agencies to help our members create business opportunities at trade shows and conferences. SIMA realizes that the industry members come from various fragmented vertical markets that crossover into other markets like a Venn diagram. We are trying to create a cohesive, unified membership base that creates a singular voice to government regarding the future direction of this industry. Once we have achieved this, then we will have the platform for industry communications and more importantly, feedback from members. Knowing how to help our members and what affects them and their future is our business. Our immediate plan is to solidify our position further in the next few months. With this focus, SIMA will be an organization that is able to assist its members and the industry in this province. I look forward to speaking with members and getting the necessary "traction" we need to move forward. I am hopeful and optimistic for the future. If you feel "fractionalized" in this industry, then I urge you to join SIMA and support a provincial organization that has a mandate to work on your behalf. In the next few weeks, we will be contacting past members and re-launching the website and monthly newsletter. We look forward to working with you. Please let us know, what we can do to help.
