SBW is a leader in evaluating conservation programs. We apply the latest research approaches and international protocols to quantify the effectiveness of efficiency programs. We help electric, gas and water utilities evaluate the savings and cost-effectiveness of their conservation programs. For more than 20 years, we have deployed our engineers and technicians through the United States to inspect, measure, and assess the savings from many different programs and the efficiency measures. These programs deliver efficiency products and services to residential, commercial, industrial and agricultural customers of the utilities. Efficiency measures range from simple devices, such as compact fluorescent bulbs in homes, to extremely complex, custom-engineered solutions for industrial manufacturing systems. In conducting these studies, our staff has visited more than 3,000 customer locations to inspect or measure the results of the program activities. We deploy many measurement techniques and a wide variety of engineering and statistical models to estimate the savings achieved, with approaches tailored to specific situations. We maintain a large inventory of equipment for measuring various critical performance parameters, such as power, run-time, temperature, and flow. We apply proven sampling methods and engineering techniques, including hourly simulation and statistical regression models, to get the most evaluation bang for the buck. This allows us to reliably assess programs, and recommend ways to improve them.
