Space Coast Machinist Apprenticeship Program

SCMAP is a traditional machining apprenticeship program in the Space Coast region of Florida. The machinist apprenticeship program serves Central Florida, to include Brevard County, Indian River County, Orange County, Titusville, Melbourne, Palm Bay, Rocklege, Cape Canaveral, Titusville, Cocoa Beach, Vero Beach, Orlando and all areas in the region. The program provides classroom studies taught by professional machinists in conjunction with on-the-job training by local companies. The apprentice must complete a four year program to receive the state journeyman certification. SCAMP is a registered apprenticeship program with the Florida Department of Education, Office of Workforce Education, Apprenticeship and Continuing Workforce Education as part of the National Apprenticeship Program, in accordance with the standards recommended by the Florida Apprenticeship Advisory Council. Apprentices must be working in the machining field at a member company to advance in the program. Cost is free to the apprentice and the membership fee is very low to employers of apprentices.
