Douglas Boatman (the managing director) has been involved on horticulture since the mid 70's. After graduating with a Honours Degree in Horticulture at Strathclyde University and Auchincruive College he worked at various establishments around the UK before founding Scotplants Ltd in 1983. Propagation of all types of plants has been our main objective. This gives us the foundation to be able to offer healthy, hardy and essentially attractive plants that will thrive in the Scottish climate. Over the years we have been involved in contract growing shrubs for Scottish Enterprise, urban regeneration projects, organising and supplying the 'Hit Squad' planting packages for the Beechgrove Garden, assisting landscape architects in creating sustainable 'easy maintenance' green spaces in both corporate and domestic situations and to sites throughout Scotland and the Isles. The turbulent weather patterns over the last few years have created problems in plant selection. This coupled with the prevalence of new plants diseases has made successful garden design a far more complex situation.
