Scott-Woods Transport

Scott-Woods Transport Inc. was created through the amalgamation of two long standing Toronto cartage companies, G.A. Scott Cartage and Woods Trucking. G.A. Scott Cartage was established in 1910 as a family-run, reliable local cartage company. By the 1970's, the company had evolved into the specialized transportation market primarily serving the material handling and construction equipment industries. Its fleet included Tilt 'N' Load straight trucks and tractor-trailer combinations including the Tilt Trailer. Throughout its growth, G.A. Scott Cartage remained a family run operation with a solid employee base. Woods Trucking Company was established in 1946. Woods made a great contribution to the transport industry by designing and building the first-ever Tilt 'N' Load system, which eliminated the need for dock level loading and ultimately became one of the most versatile pieces of equipment in transportation today. The two companies merged in 1988 as Scott-Woods Transport Inc. By this point in time, Scott-Woods Transport had become a well respected carrier serving the specialized and heavy haul market with its niche service still being Tilt 'N' Load. Throughout our history, we have continually proven ourselves to be originators and innovators. We designed and perfected many pieces of equipment common in transport today, such as the Tilt 'N' Load, tilt trailer, tilt containers, removable neck mini-decks, and the ground level machinery trailer. While our near 100 year history speaks to our contribution to our customers' success, we are not finished. As one of the most modern specialized fleets in Canada, we are making significant advancements in our ability to meet our customers' needs, ranging from advanced computer systems and on-road satellite and communication technology to state-of-the-art truck and trailer systems.
