Software Development Europe
Software Development Europe was founded in 1995 by an American Jeff Smith when he realized the potential of Czech engineers after cooperating with a local university. Traditional locations used to build software teams outside US suffered from many problems including lack of world-class employees and their high attrition rate, focus on low cost rather than quality, timezone problems, intellectual property rights concerns or cultural challenges. The Czech Republic with its western culture and education and eastern costs was a good choice for the projects Jeff was pursing. The company was founded in the university city of Brno, the second largest city in the Czech Republic after Prague. Brno has several universities and hundreds of IT graduates every year, making it possible to grow the company per customer needs. Brno is sometimes called the "Czech Silicon Valley" and was selected by companies like Red Hat, Honneywell, Microsoft or IBM for their technological parks.
