SGB Bank

The period of over 25 years of operating on the market has been marked by a continuing dynamic development of the bank and the whole Group. Initially, the areas of the bank operating were the following: the function of the associating bank for the group of Cooperative Banks, various forms of cooperation with the banks and acting for and to the benefit of associated banks, universal bank services to natural and legal persons, financial handling of business undertakings, especially in the area of farming and food processing. Since the very beginning the chief shareholders of SGB-Bank S.A. have been the Cooperative Banks that create the Cooperative Banking Group. The total (100%) capital originated from the financial sector. SGB-Bank S.A. was the first Polish bank associating Cooperative Banks that had not been established under the statutes, but on the initiative of Cooperative Banks themselves. In establishing SGB, the bank mainly drew on the long-term tradition of Polish cooperative Banks, and took advantage of positive experience of similar structures functioning abroad. All actions of SGB-Bank S.A. as the associating bank were focused on the strengthening of Cooperative Banks on the financial services market, bearing in mind that the strength of the associating bank comes from strong Cooperative Banks. The strategic goal of the associating bank was the formation of a modern bank group that uses the newest technologies, is competitive to other banks, and operates based on the assumption that the Cooperative Bank is the fundamental link. The advantages for Cooperative Banks from belonging to the Cooperative Banking Group are the following: safety of functioning, attractive conditions for deposits and loans compliant with the financial policy of SGB, access to regulations, procedures, and organizational solutions in respect of bank operations, professional instructions and advising concerning all aspects of a Cooperative Bank functioning, access to modern bank products and technological solutions, particularly to: a vast credit offer, including preferential loans with subsidies, domestic and international payment cards (Visa, MasterCard, Maestro), complex foreign exchange services in Cooperative Banks, handling the issuances of community bonds.
