St George's University
The Robert Lowe Sports Centre was established 25 years ago with four squash courts, changing rooms and a weights room. A Sports Hall and two extra squash courts were added some years later. The Sports Centre is named after Robert Lowe, a Dean at St. George's Hospital Medical School, for several years. On leaving St. George's, as a parting gesture, the Governors saw fit to name the building after him in recognition for all the hard work Robert put into the Sports Centre. It is now a major sports centre and gym to both St Georges' hospital and St George's University of London. In 2008, the facility was extensively refurbished and a new manager and staff team appointed. Today it boasts a number of facilities and classes whilst its competitive rates remain popular to members from both the University and Hospital trust.
